For climbers with some experience or beginners looking for a solid challenge, we are now offering a full day initiation to ice climbing.

Overview

Our course includes all necessary climbing equipment, so all you need to bring is a few essentials: lunch, snacks, water, good clothing and a sense of adventure. Our fully certified guide will start the lesson by getting you geared up. Once everyone is ready, you’ll spend about 30 minutes on technical training before taking the 15-minute hike to the ice wall.

Then the real fun starts! The next 3.5 hours will include an introduction to ice climbing and all the equipment. Our guides will teach you the proper way to climb, as well as the proper techniques for belaying and rappelling. You will have the chance to climb and descend several times over the course of the lesson.

Your day finishes up with the hike back to the cabin to return the equipment.

Know Before you Book

  • 12 years minimum.
  • Children aged 12 to 15 years old must be accompanied by a person 16 years + (participant or not).
  • Participants must bring a lunch.
  • Pregnant women can participate but must call us at The Activity Centre.
  • Minimum numbers apply (4 participants)
  • There is a possibility of cancellation after reservation if there are not enough participants to meet requirements.
  • If cancelled, you will be offered an alternative or full refund.

Know Before you Go

  • Please dress appropriately for ice climbing. Ask if you are unsure or see our What to wear section.
  • It is easy to tear your pants on the crampons, so be careful OR bring old snowpants.

Additional Information

  • Our base is 15 minutes from Tremblant Resort. Approximately 1h30 drive from Montreal and Ottawa.
  • 15% OFF offered to guests who have completed the Ice Climbing – Initiation activity.
  • We recommend renting a car in Montreal if you are coming to visit the Mont-Tremblant area and want to get around easily. We are in a rural area so taxis/rideshare can be limited in high season.
  • For guests who choose to reserve in advance (recommended), directions to meeting points will be provided in your reservation by email. Otherwise, directions will be handed to you when you reserve at The Activity Centre.
  • Prices do not include taxes or mandatory resort royalty of 3% and may be subject to change without notice.

Where does the activity take place?

The ice climbing is done on a natural frozen waterfall just beneath the gondola on the resort. We meet at The Activity Centre and walk up from there.

Do we need experience?

No experience is required for this activity. This is an initiation to ice climbing suitable for all levels of ability.
